Dear Friends
It was not too long ago when we gathered in Sharm El Shiek for the 7th International Congress of Tropical Pediatrics. Once again, we find ourselves getting down to the business of preparing for the 8th Congress which will take place in Manila, the Philippines on April 11-13, 2008.
This year’s theme “Improving Child Survival: A Continuing Challenge” underscores the society’s firm resolve to pursue its vision to continuously improve the health of children in the tropics.Child’s rights and survival, emerging and re-emerging diseases, new and underutilized vaccines, new and appropriate procedures, skills and medical equipment and products, and the “March for Child Survival”, which is a special event you would not want to miss these and so much more are in store for you in this 8th Congress. Your attendance is very important to us, as this gives us the impetus to continue on with our search for fresh knowledge, all for the betterment of health care of children.

Dear Colleagues
It will be our honor and pleasure to have you join us on the occasion of the 8th International Congress of Tropical Pediatrics. The theme “Improving Child Survival: A Continuing Challenge” covers a broad spectrum of relevant issues that influence child survival in both medical and non-medical settings. We are extremely happy at this opportunity to collaborate with our colleagues from the Philippine Ambulatory Pediatric Association and the World Health Organization, as together, we work towards promoting the standards of excellence in protecting, developing and saving our children.
This meeting promises to be a scientifically and culturally rewarding event, one that you should plan to be in.
Looking forward to seeing you in Manila!
Lulu C. Bravo, MD
Congress President
